ABOUT THE TRUST – BARLOWORLD EDUCATION TRUST

Barloworld Education Trust is a non-profit organization established in 1995 by Barloworld Limited, a leading industrial company in South Africa. The trust aims to provide financial assistance to deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing tertiary education in fields related to Barloworld’s core businesses: engineering, IT, sales, and marketing.

ABOUT BARLOWORLD EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY ELIGIBILITY

The Barloworld Education Trust offers bursaries to students in their second, third, or fourth year of study at recognized universities or technikons in South Africa.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be a Black South African student (Coloured, Indian, Chinese, or African)
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be studying full-time in one of the following fields of study:
    • Engineering
    • IT
    • Sales
    • Marketing
  • Be studying at a recognized University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • Have passed all your mid-year exams in the current year of study
  • Be from a previously disadvantaged background

Your application for the bursary will be considered if you pursue a qualification in one of the following fields:

  • IT/ Computer Sciences (BSc)
  • Industrial Engineering (BEng/ BSc)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BEng/ BSc)
  • Mining Engineering (BEng/ BSc)
  • Marketing
  • Sales

WHAT DOES BARLOWORLD EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY COVER?

The bursary will cover the list of expenses listed below. Additional to financial assistance, the trust also provides mentorship and career development support to its bursary recipients.

  • tuition fees,
  • accommodation, and
  • other essential expenses.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Students and learners interested in the bursary must apply by submitting clear copies of the following supporting documentation:

  • A certified copy of your South African identity document (ID)
  • A certified copy of your Matric certificate
  • Your full academic record or transcript, printed on official letterhead from your tertiary institution
  • An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • A compelling motivational letter explaining why you deserve to be awarded a bursary
