Fields of Study Covered by the Capitec Bursary
The Capitec Bursary Programme 2026 supports full-time studies at NQF Level 7 or higher (Bachelor’s or Honours degrees) in disciplines that are critical to the future of digital banking and innovation. Applicants for 2026 academic year must opt for one of the following studies:
- Actuarial Science
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Digital Marketing
- Economics
- Finance
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Quantitative Management
- Statistics
Eligibility Criteria
If you wish to qualify for funding from Capitec, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be currently in Grade 12 or have completed Matric
- Be pursuing or intending to study full-time towards a Bachelor’s or Honours degree (NQF 7 or higher)
- Be registered at a DHET- and CHE-accredited institution (universities or private colleges only)
- Achieve a minimum average of 65% in Matric (Bachelor’s Pass)
- Maintain at least 65% average in the most recent full academic year (if already studying)
- Be on track to complete studies within the minimum required time (not N+1 or beyond)
- Meet Capitec’s employment equity goals and transformation targets
- Applicants who took a gap year in 2024 but wish to continue in 2025 are welcome to apply. Simply provide an affidavit to that effect.
Capitec Bursary Benefits
Applicants who are awarded the bursary will receive coverage for the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation
- Monthly living stipend
Bursary Obligation
Upon graduation, recipients will be expected to join Capitec Bank for a period equal to the duration of the bursary. This allows graduates to gain practical experience and workplace readiness skills.

Required Supporting Documents
When you complete your bursary application you will need to upload the following certified documents (compulsory for a valid application):
- South African ID
- Matric certificate or most recent school report (Grade 11 and Term 2 of Grade 12)
- Official academic transcripts (if currently studying)
- Proof of registration or university fee statement
- Lease agreement (if staying off-campus)
- Full academic record (if applicable)
- Parents/guardians’ ID documents and proof of household income
- Proof of funding from NSFAS or other bursaries (or affidavit if none)
- Consent form (if under 18, signed by guardian)
- Employment Equity Act (EEA1) form and medical letter (if disabled)
Make sure you combine all above documents to a single PDF format and the entire file is not bigger than 5 MB.
