ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – SARS (SOUTH AFRICAN RECEIVER OF REVENUES)

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the tax collection agency of the South African government. It was established in 1997 and is responsible for administering the country’s tax system and customs service.

SARS ensures compliance with tax laws and collects revenue. It is an autonomous agency that operates independently of the government.

SARS BURSARY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

South African students who wish to study in 2024 academic year can apply for this bursary programme. They will be eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship or residency: Be a South African citizen or a South African permanent resident.
  • Academic qualifications: Have completed Matric (secondary school graduation) or be currently in Matric.
  • Field of study: Be studying or intend to study engineering, geology, science, or accounting at an undergraduate level.
  • Institution: Be studying or intend to study at a recognized South African tertiary institution.
  • Financial need: Demonstrate proven financial need.
  • Additional requirements: Engineering, geology, and science degree students must have achieved a minimum level 6 for Mathematics and Science. Accounting degree students must have achieved a minimum level 6 for Mathematics.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SARS BURSARY?

If you are interested in receiving funding for your studies from SARS, please submit your aplication by email on SARS Bursary Application 2024.

To ensure your application is considered, please include clear copies of the following supporting documentation with your completed application form:

  • Online applications: Upload the required documents to your online profile.
  • Paper applications: Attach copies of the required documents to your application form (do not submit originals).

The submission of all supporting documents is mandatory. If any items are missing, your application may be disregarded. Below is the list of documents you must submit:

  • A certified copy of your ID document
  • A passport-size photograph
  • Grade 11 final results (applicable to current Matric students)
  • Proof of admission to a tertiary institution (applicable to current Matric students)
  • Matric certificate (applicable to those who have completed Matric)
  • Full academic record to date (applicable to current tertiary students)
