The ISFAP Bursary provides financial assistance and wrap-around student support to qualifying South African students who need funding for higher education. For the 2027 academic year, the undergraduate programme is aimed at students starting their first year of study at participating public tertiary institutions. The application is completed online, and applicants must select an approved university and qualification before submitting their supporting documents.

ISFAP funding is discretionary and depends on financial need, academic performance, acceptance into an approved programme and the availability of funding from ISFAP’s funding partners.

WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE ISFAP BURSARY COVER?

The ISFAP Bursary does not have one single course list that applies to every student. The available qualifications depend on the university selected in the ISFAP application. The current application portal lists the participating universities and requires applicants to select a programme available at their chosen institution. The published 2027 undergraduate course list includes degrees as well as certain diplomas, higher certificates, advanced diplomas and extended programmes.

• Belgium Campus iTversity
  • The current ISFAP application selector lists Belgium Campus iTversity as a participating institution, but the publicly indexed ISFAP material does not expose a verified 2027 programme list for the institution. Applicants should select Belgium Campus iTversity in the live application portal to see the programmes currently available before treating a particular course as ISFAP-funded.

The institution-specific nature of the list is important. A qualification appearing under one university does not mean that the same qualification is automatically funded at every other ISFAP partner institution. Applicants should use the university and programme options shown in the ISFAP application portal when checking whether their intended course is eligible.

WHAT DOES ISFAP DO?

The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme (ISFAP) is a South African public-benefit organisation that works to expand access to higher education for academically deserving students who require financial assistance.

• Raises funding from public- and private-sector partners, foundations, development finance institutions, non-profit organisations and other donors.
• Provides financial assistance to qualifying students at participating tertiary institutions.
• Supports students studying towards approved qualifications linked to occupations in high demand.
• Provides academic and other student-support services alongside financial assistance.
• Works with universities and funding partners to help students progress through their studies and graduate.

ISFAP therefore operates as more than a source of tuition funding. Its model combines financial assistance with academic, social, life-skills and other support intended to help funded students complete their studies.
