Illovo bursary invites applications from students who meet the requirements set out by Illovo. The bursary caters for engineering studies oursued within the borders of South Africa. Only undergraduates applicants are considered for the engineering bursary programme for 2023 academic year.
ABOUT ILLOVO SUGAR BURSARY – ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Illovo is a South African based subdiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF), a diversified international food, ingredients, and retail group operating in 52 countries.
Illovo subsidiary companies are Illovo Sugar South Africa, Ubombo Sugar in Swaziland, Kilombero Sugar in Tanzania, Maragra Acura in Mozambique, Zambia Sugar in Zambia and Illovo Sugar in Malawi.

The bursary is for full time students who are on undergraduates engineering studies listed below:
- Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering

WHAT DOES ILLOVO SUGAR BURSAY COVER?
Successful applicants will have the following cost paid for by the bursary: registration fees, tuition fees, examination fees, accommodation, meals and prescribed books.
In order for your application to be considered, it must meet the following criteria set out below:
- Applicants must be South Africans
- Be from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- You must be in possession of Matric/Grade 12
- You must pursuing studies towards an undergraduate qualification listed above
- Be on your 1st or 2nd year of studies
- Be anrolled in one of South African approved universities
- Applicants funded by the Nsfas will not be considered
- Preference will be given to applicants from areas surrounding Illovo Sugar operations
