Implats is a mining company operating in South Africa with a primary focus on platinum. Since it was founded, Implats has grown to become one of global giants that plays a significant role in platinum group metals.

The company in large scale and high quality productions in mines and processing facilities in South Africa. It has a large presence in Rustenburg and operates Impala Platinum Mine and Marula Platinum Mine.

Implats is not just a mining company but is also involved in a number of projects that focus on sustainable mining practices. This is because it conducts its operations in a manner that responds to social needs while aiming to minimize environmental impact. These projects contribute meaningfully to the communities where it does its mining business.

ABOUT IMPLATS BURSARY PROGRAMME – STUDY FIELDS

Implats is making the following bursary opportunities available to students who need financial support to complete their studies. Pursued studies must be one of the following:

• Chemical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
• Geology (Mining/Exploration)
• Mining Engineering
• BSC Chemistry Accounting B.Com
• Extractive Metallurgy
• Human Resources B.Com
• Mechanical Engineering
• Survey (Mining)

WHAT ARE THE IMPLATS BURSARY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• You must be a citizen of South Africa
• You must have completed Matric or be currently in Matric
• You must be studying or intending to study towards one of qualifications in study fields above
• You must have achieved university exemption
• You must have obtained a minimum of 60% pass mark in English, Science, and Mathematics in Matric

WHAT DOES IMPALA BURSARY COVER?

Successful applicants will be assisted with financial support towards these expenses below:

• Registration fees
• Tuition fees
• Accommodation fees
• Cash living allowance
• Computer allowance (only applies to second year students and upwards)

Able to use common sense
Logical thinking
Decision making and problem solving skills
Leadership skills but still able to work in a team

HOW TO APPLY FOR IMPLATS BURSARY

Interested students who wish to apply for the bursary must download Implats Bursary Application Form 2025 (.pdf)

Your application must be accompanied by certified copies of these documents listed below:

• A certified copy of your ID
• A certified copy of your Matric/Grade 11 latest results if you are presently doing your Matric
• A certified copy of your Matric certificate if completed already
• Students already at tertiary must submit a certified copy of their academic results
• Proof that you have been accpeted by a tertiary institution
• Proof of your address ( a letter from your local councillor or traditional leader)

CLOSING DATE FOR IMPLATS BURSARY

The closing date for all applications is 30 September 2024 and late applications will not be considered.
