ABOUT THE EASTERN CAPE PREMIER’S OFFICE

The Eastern Cape Province of South Africa is along the Eastern coast and is linked to KwaZulu Natal and Western Cape Provinces. It is popular because it is where the global icon Nelson Mandela was born in the area called Mvezo.

The bursary is offered by the Premier’s Office in partnership with MerSETA. It is targeting students within the following fields of study:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE EASTERN CAPE PREMIER’S OFFICE BURSARIES

The bursary is open for applications from students who meet the following criteria listed below:

  • Applicants must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants must reside within the Eastern Cape province
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
  • Applicants must be studying towards a Degree or Diploma qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • Applicants must be studying at a recognised and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • Applicants must be unemployed
  • Applicants must be willing to work within the related service sectors
  • Applicants must NOT be engaged in any other form of government funding
  • Preference will be given to applicants from a previously disadvantaged background

HOW TO APPLY?

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS NEEDED

To help the Premier’s Office assess your bursary application. you must send the following document with your application email:

  • A certified South African ID document
  • A certified copy of your Matric certificate
  • Latest academic record
  • Proof of registration at a South African University/ University of Technology
  • Proof of any other form of financial assistance towards studies
