ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE INVESTEC BURSARY

To be eligible for the Investec Bursary, students must meet the following criteria:

To be eligible for the Investec Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  • South African Citizenship: You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
  • Matriculation or First Year of University: You must be currently in your final year of high school (matric) or in your first year of university study.
  • Full-time Undergraduate Degree: You must be studying or intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in one of the specified fields: Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Finance, Investments, Commercial LLB, Computer Science (B Sc), Engineering, Informatics (B Com), Information Technology (B Sc), Mathematics.
  • Public University Attendance: You must be studying or intend to study at a recognized and accredited public university in South Africa. The bursary does not cover studies at private tertiary institutions.
  • Academic Performance: You must have achieved a minimum result of 70% for Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) in matriculation (grade 12).
  • English Language Proficiency: You must have achieved a minimum result of 70% for English FAL or 65% for English HL in matriculation (grade 12).
  • Overall Matriculation Results: You must have achieved a minimum result of 50% for all other subjects in matriculation (grade 12).
  • University First-Semester Performance (if applicable): If you are currently studying at university, you must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for your first semester examination.

Additional Eligibility for Actuarial Science Applicants:

  • Actuarial Science applicants must be in their first year of study, with the exception of those studying towards a Business Science degree at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Investec Bursary Selection Criteria

Applicants currently in Grade 12 and applicants already in possession of a National Senior certificate should have obtained at least 50% in all their subjects with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English.
NB: Please apply timeously for admission to the educational institution of your choice. Consult the websites of the universities for application deadlines.
When completing the application form, please clearly specify the exact degree programme for which you need a bursary, the name of the educational institution where you plan to study and the year of study.
Bursaries will only be offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of University.
Changing your degree programme after submitting your application form may lead to a cancellation of the bursary, if granted.
No bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions.
