ABOUT THE COMPANY – ESKOM
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, commonly known as Eskom, is a South African state-owned electricity utility that generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to various regions, encompassing approximately 95% of South Africa’s electricity usage and 45% of Africa’s total electricity consumption.
Established in 1923 as the Electricity Supply Commission (ESCOM), Eskom has played a pivotal role in South Africa’s industrialization and economic growth.
ESKOM BURSARY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the Eskom Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
University Studies
- South African Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Academic Standing: Currently in Matric in 2023.
- Minimum Grade Requirements: Achieved a minimum of Level 4 for English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science in Grade 11 finals.
- Intended Field of Study: Intend on pursuing one of the following qualifications in 2024:
- BEng or BSc Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- BEng or BSc Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- University Acceptance: Received conditional acceptance to study at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa.
- Funding Status: Not in receipt of any other bursary funding and not registered at any tertiary institution.
University of Technology Studies
- South African Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Academic Standing: Currently in Matric in 2023.
- Minimum Grade Requirements: Achieved a minimum of Level 4 for English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science in Grade 11 finals.
- Intended Field of Study: Intend on pursuing one of the following qualifications in 2024:
- Diploma Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Diploma Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- Diploma Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma Chemical Engineering
- University Acceptance: Received conditional acceptance to study at a recognized and accredited university of technology in South Africa.
- Funding Status: Not in receipt of any other bursary funding and not registered at any tertiary institution.
- Preference may be given to applicants from underrepresented designated groups, in accordance with Eskom’s employment equity plan and its employment equity goals and targets.

Applications for University study option must be submitted online via Eskom Bursary Application 2024 using reference number 50804943GM)
Applications for University of Technology option must be done via Eskom Bursary Application 2023 using reference number 50761722GM)
Interested students are required to Register an account before they can Login and apply.
Required Documents
To complete your application, please provide the following certified copies of documents:
- ID Document: A certified copy of your South African identity document.
- Grade 11 Final Results: Certified copies of your Grade 11 final results, including English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science.
- Matric Latest Results: Certified copies of your latest Matric results, reflecting your academic performance.
- Proof of Conditional Acceptance: A certified copy of your conditional acceptance letter from a recognized and accredited university or university of technology in South Africa. The letter should be on the institution’s letterhead and clearly state your intended field of study and program admission details.
