Telkom bursary is an opportunity given to academically deserving students to pursue their studies further. The bursary is open to applicants from various fields of study prescribed by Telkom.
ABOUT TELKOM BURSARY – FIELDS OF STUDY
The aim of the bursary is to provide financial support young and talented individuals and develop their skills through its Telkom Full-Time Bursary Programme.
Telkom has selected a list of eligibility criteria per selected study fields that you can request a bursary for per each academic year.
University Students
Undergraduate
- Bachelor Science in Engineering Electronic / Electrical (Light Current)
- Bachelor Science in Engineering Electronic / Electrical (Light Current)
- Bachelor Science in Computer Engineering
- Bachelor Science in Computer Science / Information Technology
Application Requirements
- South African citizens only
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate: Mathematics and Science Higher Grade minimum C symbol (60%), an aggregate C (60%) and a pass in English
- First or Second year tertiary students: Majors and overall average minimum 60% and no failed courses
University of Technology
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- National Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering
- National Diploma in Information Technology (Technical)
Application Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate: Mathematics and Science Higher Grade minimum D symbol (50%), an aggregate D (50%) and a pass in English
- S1 or S2 / First or Second year tertiary students: Majors and overall average minimum 60% and no failed courses
TVET College Students
- National N Diploma Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
Application Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate: Mathematics and Science Standard Grade minimum D symbol (50%), an aggregate D (50%) and a pass in English
- N4 or N5 tertiary students: Majors and overall average minimum 60% and no failed courses
School Grant Opportunity
- The aim of the Telkom School Grant is to promote competency in mathematics and science for scholars at high schools, especially in the rural areas
- Aimed at assisting South African learners from low income families (Joint household income of less than R120 000.00 per annum)
- Telkom offers School Grants to scholars for grade 10, 11 or 12 on an annual basis at public schools ( No private schools )
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TELKOM BURSARY?
If your application is successful Telkom will take care of the following expenses while you focus on your studies:
- Registration and Tuition fees
- Book Allowance
- Residence fees (where applicable)
- Extra tuition (where applicable)
WHAT ARE TELKOM BURSARY REQUIREMENTS?
- Mathematics and Science Higher Grade minimum C symbol (60%) and a pass in English
HOW TO APPLY?
- Applications open on the 1st March each year
- You must collect Telkom bursary application forms from your nearest Telkom Centre for Learning &
Organisational Capacity (CFL & OC) - Attach certified copies of your final matric or tertiary results to the application form
- Closing date for applications is 31st May each year
