Santam Bursary South Africa 2027

Santam is South Africa’s leading short-term insurance company, established in 1918 and celebrating its centenary in 2018. As part of its commitment to skills development, Santam introduced a Skills Development Academy and bursary programme managed by StudyTrust. Students selected for this bursary have the opportunity upon graduation to join the Santam graduate programme, with the goal of becoming qualified relationship managers and underwriters in the short-term insurance industry.

Santam awards bursaries on yearly basis to applicants who meet requirements stipulated by the company. To be considered, applicants must be pursuing qualifications in these fields:

Santam Bursary Benefits

Successful applicants will have the following expenses taken care of by Santam while they focus on their studies:

  • registration fees,
  • tuition fees,
  • learning material,
  • accommodation,
  • laptop,
  • monthly allowance and
  • travel allowance

Successful applicants also have the opportunity to join the Santam graduate programme upon graduation, with a pathway towards becoming qualified relationship managers and underwriters in the short-term insurance industry.

This comprehensive package supports students to focus fully on their studies while building a career pathway into the short-term insurance industry.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be South African citizens. Your certified copy of your ID that must accompany your application will be used to check your citizenship.
  • You must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
  • You must be entering the final year of undergraduate, Honours, or Master’s studies in 2027.
  • You must have achieved a minimum result of 65% in your undergraduate studies and in your most recent examinations.
  • You must be studying at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • You must be interested in pursuing a career within the short-term insurance industry.

Applicants pursuing or intending to pursue Agricultural studies must meet the following criteria:

Agriculture students must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be on the final year of Agricultural qualification with a focus on crop production
  • OR
  • You must be on an Agricultural degree or diploma with plant production and/or soil science as preferred subjects
  • You must possess Microsoft Excel skills
  • You must possess good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • You must possess good negotiation skills
  • You must possess good interpersonal skills
  • You must be flexible, a team-worker and collaborative
  • You must be a self-starter that drives results
  • You must be customer-focused
  • Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates

Bursary Obligation

Successful recipients are required to work for Santam for the specified sponsorship period.

Essential Documentation

To apply for the bursary, you must submit the following certified copies of the required documents:

  • Certified copy of your South Africa Identity Document (Green book or ID card)
  • Certified copy of your matric certificate.
  • Students who are already in a tertiary institution must submit full academic transcript preferably with the institution’s letterhead
  • Proof of income for applicants’ parents. This is done to calculate the household’s annual income bracket
  • Your proof of residential address
  • A single profile picture

Closing Date

Applications for 2027 academic year open on 1 June and close on 30 September 2026.
