WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE AGSA BURSARY COVER?
The AGSA Bursary supports students pursuing Chartered Accountancy studies through SAICA-accredited universities.
- BCom Accounting CA stream
- Bachelor of Accounting CA stream
- BCompt
The bursary is intended for full-time students studying towards the Chartered Accountant pathway at a university accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

WHAT ARE THE AGSA BURSARY REQUIREMENTS?
Academic requirements differ according to the applicant’s current level of study:
- Matric applicants: Must obtain matric exemption with university entrance, at least 60% in English and at least 60% in Mathematics. Mathematical Literacy does not qualify.
- First-year students: Must have obtained more than 60% in Financial Accounting and at least 60% in Mathematics and English in Matric.
- Second-year students: Must have obtained more than 60% in Financial Accounting and more than 60% in Management Accounting.
- Final-year students: Must obtain at least 55% in all core modules of the Chartered Accountancy programme and be accepted into a CTA programme.
AGSA also identifies strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, drive, determination, commitment to succeed and leadership potential among the qualities considered for the bursary.

The AGSA Bursary covers the following study-related costs for successful applicants:
- Tuition fees
- University accommodation
- Meals
- Books

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR THE AGSA BURSARY?
The documents required depend on the applicant’s current level of study.
- Matric applicants: Copy of ID, Grade 11 year-end results, university acceptance letter and Grade 12 mid-year results.
- First-year students: Copy of ID, Matric results and academic record.
- Second-year students: Copy of ID and full academic record.
- Final-year students: Copy of ID, full academic record and CTA programme acceptance letter.
