Ingquza Hill Municipality Bursary Application 2026

The Ingquza Hill Municipality Bursary invites applications for funding for 2026 academic year. Applicants must be students who have passed grade 12 and reside with the jurisdiction of the municipality. Interested students from previously disadvantaged background must apply before 15 January 2026.

About The Ingquza Hill Municipality (IHLM)

Nestled within the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, the Ingquza Hill Local Municipality, previously known as Qaukeni Municipality, grapples with significant challenges. As one of five local municipalities under the OR Tambo District, Ingquza Hill faces the harsh realities of infrastructure backlogs, poverty, and underdevelopment.

The weight of economic hardship heavily burdens the community, necessitating a strategic approach to development. To overcome these obstacles, the Ingquza Hill Local Municipality is actively pursuing targeted community-focused development planning

Fields of Study Covered by the IHLM Bursary

The Municipality hereby invites application from students who wish to receive financial assistance in 2026 academic year. You must be pursuing a qualification in one of the listed fields of study:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Civil & Building Engineering
  • Financial Accounting (CA)
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Maritime Studies

Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the Ingquza Hill Local Municipality Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Must reside within the Ingquza Hill Municipality
  • Must be currently in Grade 12 in 2025 or have already completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intending to study toward an undergraduate qualification
  • Must be studying or have been accepted at an accredited South African university
  • Must meet the academic entry requirements for your chosen qualification
  • Must demonstrate financial need, with a household income not exceeding R350,000 per year

What The Bursary Cover

The Ingquza Hill Municipality Bursary Programme will pay the registration fee only for successful applicants.

  • Matric certificate (if completed).
  • If currently in Matric (2025): June and trial exam results.
  • Acceptance letter, provisional acceptance letter, or proof of application.
  • Parents’/guardians’ recent payslips (if employed).
  • Affidavit (if unemployed).
  • Proof of SASSA grants, if applicable.
  • Any valid document confirming residence within the Ingquza Hill Municipality area.

  • Submit all documents to the designated address specified in the application guidelines.

IHLM Bursary Summary

  • The bursary is ONLY for those who have passed Grade 12 — but Grade 12 (2025) learners can apply using trial/june results.
  • Municipality funds registration fees only, not full tuition.
  • Applications MUST be stamped by the Ward Councillor.
  • Faxed or emailed applications will NOT be accepted.
  • Beneficiaries may not change qualification without municipal approval.
  • Target intake: 20 students only.
  • Indigent-family applicants may apply EVEN IF their field is not on the list.
  • Attach quotations (registration fee OR full cost structure where needed).
