ABOUT THE COMPANY: SERVICES SETA

Services SETA – The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) is a public entity of the South African government, established in 1994 under the Skills Development Act of 1998. Its primary function is to promote and facilitate skills development within the services sector of the South African economy.

The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) is one of 21 SETAs in South Africa. It is a skills development authority responsible for serving the energy and water sectors. The Services SETA is responsible for managing skills development within the framework of the National Skills Development Strategy III.

The Services SETA’s main focus areas are:

  • Water services
  • Gas
  • Energy
  • Renewable energy

The Services SETA plays a critical role in ensuring that the energy and water sectors have the skilled workforce they need to thrive. The SETA provides funding for training programs, accredits training providers, and conducts research on skills needs in the sector.

SERVICES SETA BURSARY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Unemployed Youth Requirements

  • You must be a South Africa citizen to apply,
  • Your age must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • You must be unemployed presently
  • Intend on enrolling towards a NQF level 5 qualification (or above) within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Full time enrolled students at a public tertiary institute (University/ University of Technology/ TVET College) in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 50%
  • Have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum

Employed Youth Requirements

  • You must be a South Africa citizen to apply
  • You must be employed presently
  • Be enrolled towards a NQF level 5 qualification (or above) within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Full time or part time enrolled students at a public tertiary institute (University/ University of Technology/ TVET College) in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 50%
  • Have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum

HOW MUCH DOES SERVICES SETA BURSARY PAY?

The Services SETA bursary pays for either full or partial amounts of the following expenses:

  • tuition fees,
  • prescribed textooks,
  • accommodation and meals (unemployed students only), as well as
  • a travel and research allowance (Masters and PhD students only).
