Tronox is one of leaders in the mining sector producing titanium dioxide pigments that are needed in the process of brightening and adding durability to items such as paints, paper, and plastic.

KZN Sands mineral sands operation is located in KwaZulu-Natal in a town called Empangeni. Tronox operation that is located in Fairbreeze Mine near Richards Bay which employs about 700 people. The product of the primary wet plant is a heavy minerals concentrate that gets transported to a Mineral Separation Plant in the Empangeni Smelter Complex.

Tronox is inviting applications from students which wish to pursue studies in fields that are sponsored by the company. Students must be enrolled for one of the following programmes:

  • Mining Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Geology
  • Surveying
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Human Resources
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Accounting
  • Industrial Engineering

Tronox Bursary Value

The amount that get awarded by Tronox bursary will cover the following student’s expenses:

  • book allowances
  • tuition fees
  • accommodation allowance
  • meals allowance

Beneficiaries of Tronox bursary will be granted the opportunity to gain experience through practical work as prescribed in the course enrolled for.

Who Qualifies For Tronox Bursary?

In order for your bursary application to be considered by Tronox, you will have to meet the criteria prescribed here:

The bursary is open to South African citizens

Only students enrolled or intending to enroll in one of programmes listed above will be considered

Applicants for Tronox bursary must have completed their matric/grade 12 and be registered on their first, second, third or fourth year of study.

You must be anrolled in one of registered institutions of higher learning in South Africa

You must have passed your Matric with level 6 for Mathematics & Science, and Level 5 for English in Matric

Your average pass mark must be an average of 65% in your most recent studies

Applicants from Saldanha and Matzikama will be given first preference
