DENOSA BURSARY – GUIDE TO APPLY FOR FUNDING

The DENOSA Bursary is awarded by the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa formed in 1996. DENOSA today has a membership of over 84 000 registered nurses and health professionals. Relying on its affiliation with COSATU, DENOSA has taken leadership in advocating for the rights of nurses and midwives.

WHAT IS DENOSA BURSARY

The DENOSA Bursary is a financial aid scheme that is administered by the DENOSA STUDY FUND COMMITTEE. It provides financial support to fully paid‑up members of DENOSA who wish to further their studies. It is a partial bursary and covers a portion of expenses related to pursued studies.

The DENOSA Bursary programme caters for studies undertaken in SA universities or universities of technology. Applications for funding must be done yearly in a prescribed and official form.


FIELDS OF STUDY COVERED BY THE DENOSA BURSARY

Applications are invited from qualifying individuals who meet the eligibility criteria. Below is the list of qualifications that are funded by the bursary:

  • Undergraduate
  • Diploma
  • Short Courses

DENOSA BURSARY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a South African citizen to apply
  • You must be a fully paid-up member of DENOSA for at least 2 years
  • You must be a registered nurse or midwife
  • You must have completed a certain amount of approved post-basic work
  • Post basic undergraduate applicants must intend enrolling for a degree in nursing
  • Post basic diploma applicants must have completed at least one year of study
  • Short courses applicants must undertake courses registered with the SA Nursing Council
  • Bridging courses applicants must have successfully completed their first year of study

Below are steps that you must follow to submit your bursary application for 2025 academic year:

STEP 1

STEP 2

Complete the form by providing all required details in fields provided. Incomplete form will not be considered

Submit your application with all required documents to:leahr@denosa.org.za


REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Here is the set of supporting documents that must accompany your application:

  • Certified copy of your South Africa ID document
  • Proof that you have been accepted or registered by a tertiary institution for a prescribed course (arrangements can be made with the DENOSA secretary to submit it at a later if not readily available)
  • Post-basic undergraduate applicants must submit proof of completed courses
  • Proof of gross income (your latest payslips: certified copy)
  • Proof of registration fee paid to your institution for the 2025 academic year

31 January 2025

  • Only South African citizens may apply for this bursary. Applications from non-South African citizens will not be reviewed.
  • Ensure all required documents are included with your application. Incomplete submissions will result in disqualification.
  • Late applications will not be considered, so submit your application before the closing date.
