Fasken is an international law firm that has presence in many countries including South Africa. It provides legal solutions to businesses , government and individuals. The Fasken Scholarship demonstrates the company’s commitment to contributing towards development and sustainability of legal fraternity.
Since it was founded more than 150 years ago, Fasken has broaden its presence to reach countries like South Arica, Canada, the United Kingdom, and China.
WHAT IS FASKEN SCHOLARSHIP?
The Fasken scholarship is a financial aid scheme that was set up support students pursuing qualifications toward legal professions. It provides relief to deserving students by taking care of expenses like tuition fee, books and related expenses.
FIELDS OF STUDY
There are two scholarships that are awarded by Fasken:
- Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship providing financial support to Law students
- Lundi Gadla Scholarship providing funding for ANY study fields provided applicants are studying at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE FASKEN SCHOLARSHIP
Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship:
This scholarship is a prestigious award named after Ricci Schwab Lyons to provide support to students studying towards Law. Here are the requirements to apply:
- Applicants must be studying towards a Law qualification
- Applicants must be registered for the 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year of study
- Applicants must perform at an average of 65%, for all years of study completed
- Applicants must be willing to participate in vacation work programs in the company
- Applicants must have potential to become an effective attorney at Fasken
- Applicants must have interest and participate in the community or in community issues
Lundi Gadla Scholarship:
This scholarship is open to ANY study fields provided it is undertaken at the Nelson Mandela University. Below are requirements to apply for funding:
- Applicants must be studying at Nelson Mandela University (NMMU)
- Applicants must be registered for the 2nd, 3rd or last year of study
- Applicants must be in need of financial support for their studies
- Applicants must be motivated and hard-working individuals
- Applicants must have an interest in community issues/ projects
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE FASKEN SCHOLARSHIP
Interested students who meet the requirements must apply by sending an email with all required documents. Additionally, you must write a motivational letter to support their request for funding.
