THERMO FISHER SCIENTIFIC PHAMBILI TRUST BURSARY 2025

The Thermo Fisher Scientific Phambili Trust Bursary is offered to develop and empower black students of South Africa. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is a global leader in biotechnology providing scientific research tools, laboratory equipment, diagnostic products, and life sciences solutions.

The company operates with globally renowned brands provide  its clients with innovative technology, pharmaceutical services and convenience in purchasing process. These brands include Thermo Scientific, PPD, Invitrogen, Patheon, Unity Lab Services and more.

WHAT IS THERMO FISHER BURSARY?

The Thermo Fisher Bursary is a financial assistance that targets eligible black students in tertiary institutions. It provides financial support towards tuition fees and other expenses incurred during selected studies. Successful applicants will receive funding for a year and can only renew upon submission of results.

THERMO FISHER BURSARY FIELDS OF STUDY

Interested students can follow step-by-steb guide below in order to submit applications for 2025 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants pursuing studies aligned with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) can apply.

Degrees funded by the Thermo Fisher Scientific Phambili Trust must be undertaken within the borders of South Africa. Institution of choice must be recognised by the Department of Higher Education of South Africa.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THERMO FISHER BURSARY

  • Applicants must be below the age of 35 years old
  • Applicants must be black individuals as defined in the BBBEE codes
  • Applicants must be from previously disadvantaged background
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial distress which prevents them from completing their qualifications
  • Applicants must be pursuing STEM aligned qualifications
  • You must enrol in institutions within the borders of South Africa

APPLICATION PROCESS

There are two methods you can follow to submit your Thermo Fisher Bursary South Africa 2025 application. They are online and offline methods.

  • STEP 1 – Read through all eligibility requirements and satisfy yourself that you meet them all
  • STEP 2 – Online applicants must visit the official Thermo Fisher Scientific Phambili Trust Bursary Application 2025 online page.
  • STEP 3 – Complete the application form by providing all required information on fields provided
  • STEP 4 – Attach all required documents as listed in the documents sections below. Online applicants must scan these document to upload them
  • STEP 5 – Online applicants must submit their applications by clicking the submit button. Offline applicants must scan hard-copy forms and documents and email them to info@tfsphambilitrust.co.za

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Interested students who wish to apply for the Thermo Fisher Bursary 2025 must submit these supporting documents:

  • Certified copy of your ID document
  • University students must submit a copy of full academic performance transcript with recent results
  • Grade applicants must submit a copy of Matric certificate
  • Proof of acceptance or registration from a tertiary institution
  • Tuition fee statement for 2025
  • Accommodation/residence invoice
  • Bursary motivation letter detailing why Thermo Fisher Scientific Bursary must fund you (see our guide on how to write a bursary motivational letter)
  • Certified copy of your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) ID;
  • Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) proof of income or unemployment (affidavit stating unemployment);
  • Certified copy of a SASSA letter if any of your family members are receiving a social grant and are contributing to your household income;
  • Proof of income or unemployment (affidavit stating unemployment); and
  • Certified copy of a SASSA letter where the applicant is receiving a social grant (where applicable)
