Gold One Group Limited is a mining company operating low-risk, high-margin precious mineral resources. It has operations in Modder East in the East Rand in South Africa. The Gold One Bursary programme targets students who wish to pursue careers in mining related studies. The company’s approach is different in that it focuses on shallow depth mining which is between 300 to 500 metres under the surface.

Gold mining is complex and requires a certain set of skills for successful operation. The bursary is aimed at developing those skills and increasing chances of employing them within Gold One areas of business.

Gold One Bursary – Fields of Study

Because of the loacation of Gold One operations, bursaries will be awarded to students who reside within the Ekurhuleni Metro (Gauteng). Applications are invited from students who intend pursuing qualifications in the following study fields:

  • Mining Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Finance studies
  • Geological & Earth  Sciences

More About Gold One Bursary Programme – Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must reside within the designated municipal wards of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, in Gauteng province.

  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial distress.
  • Applicants must either be currently in Matric (in 2024) or have completed Matric.
  • Applicants must be studying or enrolled to study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • Applicants must be studying or registered to study towards a qualification in one of the fields listed above, in 2025.
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in their Matric June results, if currently in Matric.
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum result of 60% in all major subjects, if currently studying.

Gold One Bursary Value and Benefits

The following expenses will be covered:

  • Tuition fees,
  • Books,
  • Accommodation,
  • Exam fees

The accommodation must be approved and managed by the Institution where studies are undertaken.

  • Latest payslips of your parents or guardians if employed
  • Affidavit if parents or guardians are unemployed
  • Proof of pension or grant if applicable) (certified copies)
  • Proof of residence (certified copy)
