Gibela Bursary in South Africa 2025 – Gibela bursary targets South African students who wish to enrol at University or University of Technology. Applicants for this bursary must be able to demonstrate that they are financially distressed but possess potential to complete their studies.
ABOUT THE COMPANY – GIBELA
Gibela which is taken from a Zulu word which means just ride, is a consortium tasked to build and deliver new trains to PRASA. It is formed between uBumbano which is a South African company and Alston, a French company. PRASA awarded Gibela with a contract for a period of ten years.
ABOUT GIBELA BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS OF STUDY
A number of study fields have been identified to benefit from financial assistance with the aim of producing qualified individuals. These fields are as enlisted below:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineeriing
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Computer science
- Information Technology
- Accounting
- Supply chain and Logistics management
The bursaries are granted for one year and renewable on an annual basis based on academic performance.
MORE ABOUT GIBELA BURSARY – ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants need matric-level six in Maths, Physical Science, and Accounting as well as matric-level five in English in order to qualify. Written proof of acceptance for admission from a South African University or University of technology.
