National Arts Council (NAC) Bursary

National Arts Council Bursary South Africa – The National Arts Council bursary hereby invites applications from students who need financial assistance to complete their studies. Applications for the International Bursary for the 2024  academic year close on 31 March 2023.

What Is The National Arts Council (NAC) Bursary?

The NAC bursary is renewable for the duration of the course, subject to the successful completion of each year of study and with adherence to the conditions of the grant.

NAC Bursary Fields of Study

The NAC International Bursary is offered for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies towards an Arts qualification. The include the following: 

  • dance
  • craft
  • multidiscipline
  • literature
  • theatre
  • music and visual arts

You must be accepted in any international institution outside South Africa.


What Does The NAC Bursary Cover?

Students accepted on this bursary programme will receive funding towards the following:

  • maximum value of R250 000
  • registration fees
  • tuition fees
  • accommodation (only in special cases)

NAC bursary applications will be assessed based on the applicant’s artistic merit, financial need, acceptance at the identified institution, credibility of the qualification they want to register on as well as the prestige of the institution that they have been accepted at. The grant will not exceed R250 000 per annum and is subject to Council approval.
