The Arup Education Trust was established in year 2011 with the objective to enhance the lives of previously disadvantaged. The trust consider education as a powerful to advance the lives of women. This is why the Arup Education Trust Bursary was established to financially support women pursuing studies in the built environment. At least 50% of beneficiaries of the bursary programme are women.

The Arup Education Trust Bursary is a form of financial support offered to qualifying applicants to fund tertiary education. It covers expenses like tuition fees, books, accommodation and living expenses. Beneficiaries of the bursary programme are given the opportunity to participate in vacation employment. Furthermore, a support group session is extended to all bursary beneficiaries with the aim of providing constant support when needed.
Arup Education Trust Bursary Programme – Fields of Study
Bursaries for 2025 academic year are offered for Built Environment degree qualifications, aligned to the following study fields:
- Engineering
- Town Planning
- Architecture
- Construction Studies
- Quantity Surveying
Students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds must apply. They must demonstrate financial distress but be academically capable to complete their pursuing qualifications.
Exploring Arup Bursary Eligibility Requirements
Students who wish to apply get accepted into the bursary programme must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be a South African citizens
- Applicants must have passed Matric
- Applicants must be Black African, Coloured, Indian/ Asian or disabled
- Applicants must be 1st year students in the built environment field of study
- Applicants must have a strong academic performance record
- You must enroll in a South African tertiary institution recognised by the Department of Higher Education
- Applicants total combined household income must be R30,000 or less per month
