CSIR-SASOL FOUNDATION BURSARY 2025/2026

The CSIR Sasol Foundation Bursary is a funding opportunity available to students interested in studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is a collaboration between the CSIR and Sasol Foundation with the objective of providing financial support aimed at creating a pool of skills that can contribute to research and innovation.

Interested South Africa students are encouraged to apply for this 2025 academic bursary programme made available through a partnership between the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) and the Sasol Foundation.

CSIR SASOL FOUNDATION BURSARY BENEFITS

Successful applicants for the CSIR Sasol Foundation Bursary programme will have the following expenses covered: registration, tuition fees, books, accommodation and meals.

The CSIR bursary programme supports academically strong, full-time students who are currently unemployed and studying in fields aligned with the organisation’s key focus areas. These include research, innovation, technology advancement, and corporate support disciplines. Priority will be given to students who are female, black, and those living with disabilities.

BURSARY CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION

Upon completing their studies, bursary recipients will have the chance to work for the CSIR and the Sasol Foundation. The duration of their employment will correspond to the length of time they received bursary support.

Only shortlisted will receive interview invitations – if you do not get invited, please consider your application unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE CSIR-SASOL FOUNDATION

The CSIR-Sasol Foundation has set out a criteria that is used to selected bursary recipients. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be South African citizens
  • Applicants must be in Matric or already completed Matric
  • Applicants must have a minimum performance of 60% in Mathematics and Physics, and at least 50% in English at Matric level
  • Applicants must intent studying on full-time basis in 2025 academic year
  • Applicants already at University must have passed all subjects
  • Only unemployed applicants will be considered

HOW TO APPLY

Applying for the 2025 CSIR–Sasol Foundation Bursary is straightforward process that you can easily manage. Just follow the steps below to make sure your application is complete and submitted correctly:

Step 1: Verify Your Eligibility

You first must ensure that your intended course of study is included in the list of supported fields of study. You also must check that you meet both the academic requirements and the personal eligibility requirements before you start with the application process.

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

Gather the necessary supporting documents and make sure that all copies are certified. There must not be older than months. You need the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your South African ID
  • A detailed CV reflecting your academic background and relevant experience
  • A certified copy of your Matric certificate
  • Your academic results if you are already a university student
  • Certified copies your academic transcripts, proof of registration, and any other optional supporting documents such as proof of previous bursary funding or disability documentation (for university students)
  • If you are in Grade 12 or took a gap year, provide your Grade 11 final results or Matric certificate, if available

Note: If you are a recipient of another bursary or NSFAS, you must also upload a copy of your bursary agreement or offer letter.

Step 3: Complete the Application Form

Complete the online application form carefully. Double-check that every required field is filled in correctly before submitting.

Step 4: Submit Your Application on Time

The deadline for applications is Monday, 30 September 2024, at 12:00 PM (midday). To avoid technical issues or delays, it’s best to submit well before the deadline.
