The East London Industrial Development Zone was established in 2002 by the South African government. The main objective is to attract investment which drives employment in the Eastern Cape Province. The ELIDZ Bursary 2025 is offered to deserving students from the province who wish to further their studies.
The bursary programme demonstrates ELIDZ continued commitment to skills development through education.
What Is ELIDZ Bursary?
The ELIDZ Bursary Porgramme 2025 is a financial aid that is awarded to deserving students who hail from the Eastern Cape province. It offers funds to help cover expenses incurred by student during their studies.
Applicants for the ELIDZ Bursary programme must be interested in pursuing studies related to Mathematics, Technology and Science. It is an annual full-time undergraduate funding programme.

- Technology

Who Is Eligible?
Your application will be considered if you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be South African citizens or naturalized South African citizens.
- Applicants must be bona fide Eastern Cape residents only.
- You must be currently on Grade 12 or already in possession of a National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Disabled applicants, and historically disadvantaged individuals from rural and poor areas/communities
- The bursary is for full-time undergraduate studies. It will only be available to students that have applied to recognised institutions of higher learning
- Only undergraduate students in Maths, Science OR Technology related fields will be considered.
- Applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Applicants must have at least 60% for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and a 60% average for all other subjects during the June and November examinations (for 2024 matriculant)
- Applicant should have already applied to a South African university of their own choice and should be in
- Applicants must be in possession of a University Acceptance letter or provisional acceptance letter.
How To Apply for the ELIDZ Bursary Programme?
- STEP 1 – Download the official ELIDZ Bursary Application Form 2025 (.pdf)
- STEP 2 – Complete all fields of the form by providing information needed
- STEP 3 – Attach required supporting documents as listed in the documents section below:
- Certified copy of your Statement of symbols / results for the National Senior Certificate or
- Certified copy of National Senior Certificate.
- Proof of latest academic record or academic transcript/s on official letterhead or with the university stamp
- Proof of residence for Parent /Guardian (e.g. utility bill/ credit store account/Affidavit confirming proof of residency etc)
- Proof of income if employed (payslip not older than 3 months).
- Proof that you are not in any employment (e.g. Affidavit of financial need)
- If you are benefiting from a state grant please attach proof (SASSA letter)
- Certified copies of achievement / merit certificate
- STEP 4 – Submit your application before the closing date. There are two methods to return your application:
