SAADP Bursary 2026: Field of Study
The SAADP Bursary 2026 targets students who are pursuing or intend to undertake studies leading to a qualification in Actuarial Science. The bursary provides financial support to undergraduate students who undertake their studies at a partner institution of higher learning.
What the SAADP Bursary Covers
The SAADP Bursary Programme 2026 provides successful applicants comprehensive financial support which covers expenses while they pursue their qualification. These include the following:
- Registration: you receive payment for your initial registration fees
- Tuition: you get full funding for 2026 tuition
- Accommodation: this is for students residing at home and those in an approved students accommodation
- Books and Study Material: covers expenses for all resources needed to help you pass your course
- Living allowance: you get a stipend to help you with your living expenses
Additionally, SAADP Bursary recipients receive mentorship and get to attend personal development programmes (workshops).
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the SAADP Bursary, make sure that you are a suitable candidate. Here are the requirements you must meet:
- Citizenship: You must be a South African from these groups (African, Coloured or Indian).
- Academic Performance Requirement :
- Matriculants: You must have mathematics (not maths literacy) passed with at least 80%, along with high overall academic performance.
- University applicants: You must already be enrolled for Actuarial Science in a recognised SAADP partner university and maintain excellent academic progress.
- University Admission: You must be accepted (or planning to apply) to one of the SAADP partner institutions, including:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- University of the Witwatersrand (WITS)
- Financial Need: Preference is given to students who are able to demonstrate financial need.

Bursary Awarding Process
Here is what to expect when you apply for the SAADP bursary:
Step 1: Pre-screening
Your application together with those of other applicants will undergo an initial screening designed to confirm if all applications do meet the basic eligibility criteria. This focuses on whether the application was received before the deadline and that all documents are attached and are certified. It will also be confirmed if all applications received do meet the university admission requirements.
Step 2: Shortlisting of candidates
An external body, the Students’ Selection and Monitoring Committee (SSMC), will review all applications that have gone through pre-screening and compile a shortlist of potential candidates. Only shortlisted applicants will receive communication from SAADP. If you do not hear back, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Step 3: Submission of Final Matric Results
Applicants who are in Matric must submit their final Grade 12 results as soon as they receive them. Failure to provide these results will result in disqualification from the selection process.
Step 4: Selection Interviews
Shortlisted matriculants will be invited to attend an interview conducted by the SSMC. For current university students, feedback will be provided by SAADP after the committee reviews your application. Successful applicants will be notified of their interview outcome.
