ESKOM BURSARY 2025 – NEW DEADLINE FOR JANUARY

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is South Africa’s biggest state owned entity responsible for supplying homes and industry with electricity. Since its formation in 1923, Eskom enjoyed monopoly as it is the only generator of electricity in the country. Eskom Bursary offers financial assistance to students pursuing Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) qualifications.

Eskom has its headquarters located in Johannesburg which is regarded as South Africa’s economic hub. Students who complete studies supported by the Eskom Bursary programme may be employed by this SOE.

WHAT IS ESKOM BURSARY?

Eskom Bursary is a scheme designed to assist deserving students with finances to complete their degrees or diplomas. Support is offered on yearly basis and gets renewed upon submission of satisfactory results. Eskom has set out a criteria which it uses to select bursary beneficiaries from applications it receives.

The bursary programme covers expenses incurred by students during their studies. These may include tuition fees, meals, books and accommodation.


STUDY FIELDS COVERED BY ESKOM BURSARY

Interested undergraduate students may submit applications for 2025 funding. Below is the list of selected qualifications that receive assistance from Eskom:

Degrees

  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current and Light Current)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Metallurgy Engineering

Diplomas

  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current and Light Current)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Surveying Engineering

ESKOM BURSARY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for the Eskom Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Applicants must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants must have completed Matric in 2024
  • University applicants must have passed English with level 4 in Matric
  • Applicants must have passed Pure Mathematics with level 4 in Matric
  • Applicants must have passed Physical Science with level 4 in Matric
  • Applicants must be accepted to pursue one of qualification listed in the fields of study above in 2025
  • Applicants must NOT be receiving any other bursary
  • Eskom gives preference to applicants from under-represented groups (in line with Eskom’s employment equity plan and its employment equity goals and targets)
  • Eskom encourages students with disability to apply

  • STEP 1 – Visit the official Eskom Bursary Application 2025 (University applicants) and Eskom Bursary Application 2025 (University of Technology applicants)
  • STEP 2 – Register to create your personal account
  • STEP 3 – Click on the ‘Continue To Apply’ button to apply for the bursary
  • STEP 4 – Upload required supporting documents listed in the documents section below
  • STEP 5 – Submit your online application before the closing date

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Below is the set of supporting documents that must accompany your application:

  • A certified copy of your ID document (certified within three months)
  • Certified copy of your Matric statement
  • Acceptance or registration proof (on institutions letterhead)
