The Rosond Bursary Programme is open for application for 2026 academic year. It is offered by Rosond (Pty) Ltd, a company founded in 1956 to focus on geotechnical drilling and exploration. Over the years, the company has expanded through partnerships which include De Beers, Anglo American and many others.

Rosond has gained reputation in the mining sector because of its innovation and cutting-edge technology it employs in all operations. Today its operations have expanded to countries including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and other African countries.

ROSOND is a South African diamond drilling company. It has operations in gold mining, iron ore mining and platinum mining sectors of the industry.

About the Rosond Bursary

The Rosond Bursary Programme is a financial support awarded to students who meet the eligibility criteria set out by the company. Applicants are selected on the basis of academic performance and financial need. These must be in line with the company bursary and recruitment policy.

The bursary programme caters for one year but can be extended upon submission of student academic results. Rosond considers applications from student between 18 to 30 years of age. You must be studying towards one of qualification listed in the fields of study section.

This is an internal and external funding programme which pays for 1st to 3rd year of selected undergraduate studies.

Eligibility Requirements for the Rosond Bursary

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time towards an undergraduate qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • You must be in your 1st to 3rd year of study
  • You must be studying or registered to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
  • Priority will be given to applicants residing within the Rosond Host-communities
  • Priority will be given but not limited to previously disadvantaged students, planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree or diploma in an area that falls within the scarce and critical skills requirements of ROSOND
  • Internal bursary applicants: you must be a biological or legal dependent of Rosond employee

Additional Details About The Bursary

The bursary is awarded on a single-year basis, meaning that recipients must submit progress reports to request further funding. There are two considerations for the bursary award:

  1. Academic capability – applicants must demostrate the capability to complete their studies
  2. Financial need – Rosond’s internal policy requires that students show financial need. This gets captured in the application form.

  • A certified copy of your complete academic performance transcript for current tertiary applicants
  • Your latest financial statement your tertiary institution
  • Proof that you have been registered for 2026 academic year

  • Proof of residence
  • Proof of combined household income
