Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship 2025 – Application Closed

The Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship is awarded to pay tribute to Bheki Mlangeni who was assassinated 1991. Mlangeni who hailed from Soweto and later became an activist and a lawyer, got killed in 1991.

Mlangeni was killed by a bomb that he had received disguised a cassette player. His dream of dismantling the apartheid system was ended by a bomb which was intended for another activist. After graduating from Wits in 1989, Mlangeni joined Cheadle Thompson and Hayson Inc. Attorneys.

What Is The Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship?

The Bheki Mlangeni Scholarship is a financial support that is awarded by Cheadle Thompson and Hayson Inc. Attorneys a law firm founded by a group of law academics from Wits. Bursaries are awarded to final year LLB students. Studies must be undertaken at Wits University and University of Western Cape.

Beneficiaries of Bheki Mlangeni scholarship may be required to undertake vacation work at Cheadle Thompson and Hayson Inc. Attorneys.

Eligibility Requirements for the Bheki Mlangeni Memorial Scholarship

Interested students who wish to submit applications for funding must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be black
  • Applicants must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants must be pursuing an LLB degree
  • Applicants must be in their final year in 2025
  • You must be studying at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) or the University of the Western Cape (UWC)

  • Your latest CV containing your student number

  • Additionally, include two reference letters
