The Bergrivier Municipality Bursary supports students studying towards an eligible first qualification in any field of study, subject to the programme requirements.
The bursary is available to full-time students attending an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.

WHAT ARE THE BERGRIVIER MUNICIPALITY BURSARY REQUIREMENTS?
- South African citizenship.
- Permanent residence within the Bergrivier Municipal area.
- Full-time study at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Study towards an eligible first qualification.
- Meet the admission requirements of the relevant tertiary institution.
- Existing students must have passed the previous year of study.
- Preference is given to applicants between 18 and 35 years old, although applicants outside this age range may still be considered.
- Preference is given to financially needy applicants.
- Applicants must provide the required supporting documents.
WHAT DOES THE BERGRIVIER MUNICIPALITY BURSARY COVER?
The Bergrivier Municipality Bursary may assist with approved study-related costs, including:
- Registration fees
- Tuition or class fees
- Examination fees
- Books and study materials
- Accommodation fees
The exact amount of funding depends on the approved study costs and the municipality’s available funds. The bursary is paid directly to the relevant academic institution.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BERGRIVIER MUNICIPALITY BURSARY?
Applications are completed using the prescribed Bergrivier Municipality External Study Bursary application form.
The completed application and supporting documents must be hand-delivered to a designated Bergrivier Municipality office. Electronic and fax applications are not accepted.

ABOUT BERGRIVIER MUNICIPALITY
Bergrivier Municipality is a local municipality in the Western Cape. Through its External Study Bursary, the municipality provides financial assistance to qualifying students who permanently reside within the municipal area and are pursuing full-time tertiary studies.
