WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY ARE COVERED BY THE AFRISAM BURSARY?
The AfriSam Bursary currently covers two engineering study fields. For the 2027 intake, AfriSam has advertised two bursary opportunities:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering – one opportunity linked to Peninsula Quarry.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AFRISAM BURSARY?
Applicants must meet the academic and other requirements set for the AfriSam bursary programme. The current 2027 requirements include:
- Applicants must be matriculants who intend to pursue one of the engineering qualifications covered by the bursary.
- Applicants must be studying, or planning to study, an approved engineering qualification covered by the opportunity.
- The qualification must be offered by a recognised and accredited university in South Africa.

- A minimum academic average of 60% is required.
- Applicants must demonstrate good behavioural standards.
AfriSam gives preference to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) and female applicants. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that an applicant will be selected, as the number of bursary opportunities is limited.
WHAT DOES THE AFRISAM BURSARY COVER?
The AfriSam Bursary provides financial support for up to 36 months towards the approved engineering qualification.
The current 2027 information does not disclose a specific rand value for the bursary or provide a complete public breakdown of individual allowances. Applicants should therefore not assume that the bursary includes a particular monthly stipend, accommodation allowance, meal allowance or other benefit unless AfriSam confirms this as part of the bursary offer.
