Ubuhlebezwe Municipality is a local municipality within the Harry Gwala District Municipality, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The Zulu translated version of the word Ubuhlebezwe is the beauty of the land or lanscape.

The municipality is located in the south-western part of the province, and it borders the Eastern Cape province to the south. Ubuhlebezwe Municipality is a predominantly rural municipality, with the majority of its residents living in traditional villages. The municipality’s main economic sectors are agriculture, forestry, and tourism.

Eligibility Requirements – Who Can Apply?

To apply for the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality bursary, interested students must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be South African citizens
  • Applicants must reside within the Ubuhlebezwe municipal area
  • Applicants must be in possession of Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification in Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Town Planning or Geographical Information Systems
  • Applicants must be studying or accepted/registered to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution (University) in South Africa.
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing studies towards Municipal Priority Skills.

Expenses Covered by the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Bursary

The bursary will cater for the following expenses while you focus on your studies:

  • tuition fees,
  • prescribed books,
  • accommodation and
  • meals.

Supporting Documents Required

To apply for the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality bursary, you must submit the following documents:

  1. A certified copy of your ID document or smart ID card
  2. A certified copy of your Matric Certificate
  3. Proof that you have been accepted by a tertiary institution, for the current academic year (on institution’s letterhead)
  4. Provide an official document from the tertiary institution providing details of your tuition fees and the institution’s banking details This must be contained in a letter with the institution’s letterhead
  5. Remember to provide your full name, contact number, and email address

Please note that all documents must be certified copies. You can certify copies by taking them to a Commissioner of Oaths or a magistrate.
