African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) Bursary South Africa 2026

The African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) bursary is open to students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in fields set out by the company. The bursary is open only to South African students who are enrolled or intending to enrol in a recognised institution of higher learning in South Africa.

The ARM is a mining company founded by Mr Patrice Motsepe in 1997. ARM is based in South Africa and has interests in a wide range of mines, including platinum and platinum group metals, iron, coal, copper, and gold. Its headquarter is based in Sandton, Johannesburg.

African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) is a diversified mining and minerals company headquartered in South Africa. ARM mines and beneficiates iron ore, manganese ore, chrome ore, platinum group metals (PGMs), nickel, and coal. The company also produces manganese alloys in Malaysia and has an investment in gold through its shareholding in Harmony Gold Mining Company (Harmony).

ARM is a major employer in South Africa and a significant contributor to the country’s economy. The company is committed to responsible mining and sustainable development, and has a number of initiatives in place to support these goals.

ARM’s mining operations are located in South Africa and Malaysia. The company’s iron ore mines are located in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces of South Africa. ARM’s manganese ore mines are located in the Northern Cape province, and its chrome ore mines are located in the Limpopo province. The company’s PGM and nickel mines are located in the North West and Limpopo provinces, respectively. ARM’s coal mines are located in the Mpumalanga and Free State provinces.

What Does The Bursary Cover?

The financial assistance covers the registration fees, tuition fees, meals, accommodation, prescribed books, laptop or data allowance. The bursary is renewed annually upon submission of latest academic transcripts.

Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?

To be considered for the ARM bursary, applicants must meet the following application criteria:

  • You must be a South African
  • Completed Matric/Grade 12
  • You must be enrolled at the Unversity of Pretoria or North West University
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance
