The Hillary Construction Bursary can fund your studies to help you secure yourself a qualification. The bursary is limited to South African students who are pursuing their Diploma or Degree qualifications in recognized universities and universities of technology.
About Hillary Construction Bursary
Hillary Construction was established in 1963 when Bill and Irene Hillary started moving dirt in Limpopo. Formalised as a civil engineering contractor in 1967, it remains headquartered in Polokwane while working across South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.
The company specialises in bulk earthworks, road building and rehabilitation, in-situ pavement recycling, upgrading gravel roads to bitumen, airfield construction, earth dams and full township development. Over the decades it has delivered for major clients including Anglo American Platinum, Impala Platinum, De Beers, SANRAL, government road agencies in four countries, and numerous municipalities and private developers.
About Hillary Construction Bursary – Fields of Study
The Hillary Construction Bursary supports undergraduate student who are pursuing any Engineering qualification. Studies must be undertaken in a public university within the borders of South Africa. Here are the fields that are covered:
- Civil Engineering
- Quantity Surveying
- Surveying
All three above must be taken on full-time bases in a recognized publish institution of higher learning.
Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?
The following criteria is set out by Hillary Construction and only applicants meeting the following will be considered:
- South African citizen / permanent resident
- Matric exemption certificate and proof of academic results
- For University students – Minimum symbol C for Maths and Science
- For University of Technology students – Minimum symbol D for Maths and Science
- Minimum of 65% aggregate rating
Hillary Construction Bursary Value & Benefits
The bursary covers the following expenses of successful applicants:
- annual registration fees,
- tuition fees,
- examination fees,
- monthly allowance for accommodation,
- food,
- travelling expenses and
- study-related equipment
