Only qualifications offered at accredited South African public universities, universities of technology or TVET colleges will be considered.
Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?
You must meet ALL these requirements to be considered:
- South African citizen
- Permanent resident within the Polokwane Municipal area (wards 1–43)
- From a previously disadvantaged background and financially needy household
- Age 35 or younger on 1 January 2026
- Achieved a minimum average of 65% in Matric (or current tertiary results)
- Studying or intending to study full-time towards one of the approved qualifications above
- Not receiving any other bursary or NSFAS funding for the same qualification
Expenses Covered by the Polokwane Municipality Bursary Programme?
This is a full-cost bursary award that pays for:
- Tuition and registration fees (100%)
- Prescribed textbooks and study material
- Accommodation in accredited residence or approved private accommodation
- Meals (or meal allowance)
- Monthly personal allowance
- Laptop allowance (once-off in first year)
- Limited travel allowance for students studying outside Limpopo

- Acceptance / provisional acceptance letter from tertiary institution
- Motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary

Selection Process & Important Dates
- Shortlisting: February 2026

- Final awards announced: April 2026
- Successful students sign a binding work-back contract (one year of service at the municipality for every year of funding)
