The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) Proprietary Limited is responsible for designing, constructing, financing, operating and maintaining the section of N3 Route. This route starts from Cedara interchange in KZN up to Heidelberg South interchange in Gauteng and is as a result of a concession agreement between N3TC and SANRAL. It is a vital transport network artery that covers a stretch of 415 kilometres. The N3TC Bursary is part of the agency’s “Touching Lives” initiative that is aimed at supporting students from areas along this corridor. It offers them the opprtunity to recieve financial support towards tertiary education in selected fields of study.
Fields of Study Covered by the N3TC Bursary
The bursary programme targets South African students going for 3rd, 4th or Honours year in 2026 academic year. It is targeting students from specific municipalities in Mpumalanga, Free State, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces. Applicants must be going for one of the following studies:
- Accounting
- Civil Engineering
- Information Technology
- Marketing
- Mathematics and Science Teaching
Eligibility Criteria – Who Must Apply?
The criteria that you must meet in order to apply is straightforward and requires that you:
- Are a South African citizen.
- Live in one of the designated local municipalities along the N3 corridor
- Have completed Matric.
- Are enrolled as a 3rd, 4th or Honours student in a recognized South African university.
- Maintain a strong academic performance with at least a 60% average.
- Demonstrate genuine financial need.
- Have no unpaid university fees from previous years.
Here are the designated municipalities of each province:
- Free State: Mafube, Maluti-a-Phofung, Phumelela
- Gauteng: Lesedi
- KwaZulu-Natal: Alfred Duma, iNkosi Langalibalele, Mpofana, Okhahlamba, uMngeni
- Mpumalanga: Dipaleseng
Expenses Coverage
Successful applicants will have the following expenses covered by N3TC: tuition fees and prescribed books. Accommodation and other study related expenses may be covered at the discretion of the company.
Bursaries will be awarded for 1 academic year at a time, and any extension is at the discretion of N3TC.
