Citrus Academy Bursary 2025 – How to Apply & Requirements

The Citrus Academy was established in year 2005 by Citrus Growers’ Association (CGA) of Southern Africa as a non-profit organisation. Over the years the academy has served its establishment objective of supporting human resource development within the citrus industry. Additionally, the academy has a task to provide solutions to industry challenges employment equity and shortage of skills.

The Citrus Academy Bursary Fund was launched in 2006 with the aim of supporting students who intend pursuing tertiary education.

WHAT IS CITRUS ACADEMY BURSARY?

The Citrus Academy Bursary is a financial supported that is targeting students who wish to enroll for Agriculture related qualifications. It provides funds to students to cover expenses like tuition fees, books, meals and research cost. The bursary programme is only for undergraduate qualification if Agriculture related studies.

STUDY FIELDS COVERED BY THE CITRUS ACADEMY BURSARY

Students who apply for funding must be in Agricultural studies at a university level in 2025 academic year. The Citrus Academy will pay for one year and the renewal is one yearly basis upon submission of satisfactory results.

HOW TO QUALIFY – ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CITRUS ACADEMY BURSARY

Any student who fulfill the below criteria you may apply for a Citrus Academy bursary:

  • A citizen of South Africa, Swaziland or Zimbabwe
  • Studying fulltime or part-time at a registered tertiary academic institution in South Africa
  • Studying in a field related to citrus production or research
  • Going into your second year of study, or above
  • Interested in a career in the citrus industry
  • Satisfied that you comply with the terms and conditions of the Bursary Fund agreement

EXPENSES COVERED BY THE CITRUS ACADEMY BURSARY

Citrus Academy provides financial assistance which is aimed at covering the following student expenses:

  • tuition,
  • accommodation,
  • meals,
  • books and stationery,
  • research costs (postgraduate students only), and
  • other expenses related to a students’ studies.

  • STEP 2 – Complete the online form by providing all required details
  • STEP 3 – Upload required supporting documents as listed in the documents section below.
  • STEP 4 – Submit your application before the closing date

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

All applications are assessed based on information submitted by applicants. Below is the list of documents you must upload:

  • Certified copy of your ID document
  • Passport or ID document, if a citizen of Zimbabwe or Swaziland
  • Certified copy of your high school  education results
  • Certified copy of your most recent tertiary academic record
  • Motivational essay explaining the following: why you wish to study further, your background in the citrus industry, how you will give back to the citrus industry and citrus enterprise when you have completed your studies (max 500 words)
  • Postgraduate applicants must include details of their proposed research project
