Fields of Study Covered by the TETA Bursary

In order to be eligible for a TETA bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenships is a requirement to apply
  • Academic qualifications you must possess is Matric or Grade 12
  • Applicants must intend pursuing studies at a TVET college, public or private university, or accredited diving or flying school
  • Your age must fall within the youth sector (age may vary based on TETA dictates).
  • Your combined annual household income must be R350,000 or less
  • Applicants must be from a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Your academic performance must be satisfactory and be not below 50%.
  • Pilot Training (if applicable):
    • For Commercial Pilot Training: Possess a valid Private Pilot License.
    • For Instructor’s or Instrument Rating: Possess a valid Commercial Pilot License.

HOW TO APPLY FOR TETEA BURSARY?

Students wishing to apply for the bursary must do so online via TETA Bursary Application 2024. In order for your application to be considered, it must be accompanied by the following set of documents:

Grade 12

  • Certified Grade 11/12 Statement of Results/ Matric Certificate
  • Certified ID copy of applicant;
  • Certified ID copies of parents/guardian;
  • Certified copy of death certificate (in case of a deceased parent/s);
  • Proof of income (payslip) or an affidavit (if parents are unemployed) or proof of SASSA/Pension grant.
  • Affidavit from the applicant confirming employment status
  • • Proof of application for study at an Institution of Higher Learning (including TVETs), diving or flying
  • School (where acceptance letter is not yet received);
  • • Acceptance letter from Institution of Higher Learning;

TVET College

  • Certified Senior Certificate and intend to study from (N4-N6)
  • Certified ID copy of applicant;
  • Certified ID copies of parents/guardian;
  • Certified copy of death certificate; (in case of a deceased parent or guardian);
  • Proof of income (payslip) or an affidavit (if parents are unemployed), proof of SASSA/Pension grant;
  • Affidavit from the applicant confirming employment status
  • Proof of application for study at a TVET college (where acceptance letter is not yet received);
  • Proof of registration (where applicable);
  • Acceptance letter from college;

Pilot Training (Commercial Pilot Licence)

  • Certified Grade 12 Statement of Results/Matric Certificate
  • Certified ID copy of applicant;
  • Certified copy of a valid Private Pilot License;
  • Certified ID copies of parents/guardian;
  • Acceptance letter or proof of registration from Aviation school;
  • In case of a deceased parent, certified copy of death certificate;
  • Proof of income (payslip) or an affidavit (if parents are unemployed) or proof of SASSA/Pension grant;
  • Affidavit from the applicant confirming employment status; and
  • Quotations for training costs (compulsory).

Pilot Training (Instrument Rating)

  • Certified Grade 12 Statement of Results/Matric Certificate;
  • Certified ID copy of applicant;
  • Certified copy of a valid Commercial Pilot License;
  • Certified ID copies of parents/guardian;
  • Acceptance letter or proof of registration from Aviation school;
  • In case of a deceased parent, certified copy of death certificate;
