Magalies Water Bursary 2027

The Magalies Water Bursary provides opportunities for young South Africans pursuing selected engineering, water, science and technology qualifications. Applications are currently open for 2027 academic year and must be submitted with the required supporting documents before the closing date.

WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE MAGALIES WATER BURSARY COVER?

The Magalies Water Bursary supports qualifications in engineering, water care, science, biotechnology, microbiology and information and communication technology. Two bursaries are advertised for each of the seven fields below.

  • Mechanical Engineering – N4–N6, Diploma (NQF 6) or B Degree
  • Electrical Engineering – N4–N6, Diploma (NQF 6) or B Degree
  • Civil Engineering – N4–N6, Diploma (NQF 6) or B Degree
  • Water Care – Diploma (NQF 6) or Advanced Diploma
  • Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry – Diploma (NQF 6) or B Degree
  • Biotechnology / Microbiology – Diploma (NQF 6) or B Degree
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – B Degree

The qualifications can therefore range from N4–N6 and diploma-level study to Advanced Diploma and bachelor’s degree study, depending on the field.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MAGALIES WATER BURSARY?

The bursary is aimed at young South Africans who meet the academic and age requirements and are eligible to study at an accredited and registered South African institution of higher learning.

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • You must have achieved an average of at least 65% in Grade 12.
  • You must be eligible to study at an accredited and registered South African institution of higher learning.

Magalies Water states that preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, people with disabilities and female applicants. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee selection.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE MAGALIES WATER BURSARY?

Applicants must complete the Magalies Water External Bursary Application Form and submit together with the required supporting documents by email.

  • Scan the completed form together with the required supporting documents.
  • Email the application to bursaries@magalieswater.co.za.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR THE MAGALIES WATER BURSARY?

The application must include documents that confirm the applicant’s identity, academic performance and tertiary study status. The first four documents listed in the advertisement must be certified copies.

  • Certified copy of your ID document.
  • Certified copies of your Grade 11 and Matric results if you are currently in Matric.
  • Certified copy of your Matric certificate if you have already completed Matric.
  • Certified copy of your latest academic transcript or academic record on official institutional letterhead or bearing the institution’s logo if you are already studying at tertiary level.
  • Provisional acceptance letter from the university.

Applicants should make sure that all documents are clear and that the application is complete before sending it. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
