There are 45 clubs that are permanent members of the Knysna Rotary Club who all understand the principle of service above self.
Who Can Apply for the Knysna Rotary Bursary?
You must meet the following requirements in order for your application to be considered:
- Student must have resided in Knysna area for a minimum of 5 years.
- Student must show evidence of academic potential with a minimum overall average of
60% (preferred). - Student must show other source of funding.
- Student must be an undergraduate.
- Student must be aware that this is not a full bursary.
- Student attends a comprehensive interview

Applicants Requirements:
- Has a clear idea of what the course entails.
- Has some idea of what they intend doing after studying.
- Shows evidence of hard work at school – good marks.
- Shows evidence of leadership/involvement at school or in the community (sports
- participation, Interact, prefect etc.).
- Has the communication skills to answer interviewer’s questions.
- Has some understanding that success depends on sacrificing pleasure some of the
- time.
- Has other source of funding.
- Has investigated accommodation and travel options.
- Has plans to have a holiday job during holidays.
- Has knowledge of the Rotary International organisation.
- Has knowledge of SA events (current affairs).
- Has adequate financial support from parents.

The Knysna Rotary Club is calling for undergraduate students to submit for applications for 2026 academic year bursary programme. You must be a student from Knysna and be interested in one of the following studies:

- Ambulance Training
- Architect Drawing
- Business Management
- Education / Teaching
- Engineering
- Firefighting
- Journalism
- Law
- Marketing
- Media and Communication
- Medicine
- Nature Conservation
- Nursing and Caring
- Social Work
What The Bursary Offers
Successful applicants receive financial assistance ranging between R6 000 up to R30 000. This helps them pursue studies in basic education and literacy, maternal and child health, and economic development.
The bursary amount is disbursed in two allocations of which the first one gets paid to the institution once applications have been processed. The second allocation only gets paid once the candidate has passed mid year examination.
Selection and Renewal
If you get awarded with the bursary, you will receive one year financial support. You must renew the bursary for the following year by submitting performance results at the end of the current year.
Successful bursary applicants get invited to an interview that is conducted by the bursary committee.
