Sage Bursary 2026 – Who Can Apply?

There is a set of requirements that you must meet for your application to be considered. Here is the list:

  • Current Matric learners with Mathematics and Physical Science marks of 75% and above.
  • Current university students who are consistently obtaining an average of 65% and above.
  • Only South African citizens can apply
  • Applicants must come from previously disadvantaged groups
  • People living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
  • You must be admitted in one of South Africa’s institutions of higher learning
  • Your combined household annual income must be from R350 000 to R500 000

What Does Sage Bursary Cover?

The bursary will cover the following expenses incurred during selected studies:

  • tuition fees
  • residence / private accommodation fees
  • stationery and prescribed books

Documents Required

Your application must be accompanied by supporting documents listed below:

  • Certified copy of your South Africa ID
  • Matric students must submit Grade 11 final results and June results
  • If Matric is completed, supply a certified copy of your certificate
  • University or university of technology students must provide full academic record
  • Proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ affidavit stating annual income if self-employed/ most recent audited financial statement or 3 months’ most recent bank statements if they own a business/ SASSA letter stating the grants received if applicable)
  • Provide death certificates if parents are deceased

The closing date for applications is 30 September 2025 – applications received after the deadline will not be processes.
