Rand Refinery is an integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complexes that was founded by the Chamber of mines. Based in Germiston, South Africa, it is one of the largest in the world since its establishment in 1902. The Rand Refinery bursary programme is the company’s contribution towards education in South Africa.

Rand Refinery has bursaries available to successful applicants who wish to futher their studies in 2025. Applicants must be pursuing studies in the following study fields:

Eligibility Criteria for the Rand Refinery Bursary
- Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Applicants must have completed Grade12/Matric.
- Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate qualification in one of study fields listed above.
- Applicants must be in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of study.
- Applicants must be studying at a recognised and accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa (University or University of Technology).
- Applicants must have passed with a minimum overall average of 70%.Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old.
What Does The Rand Refinery Bursary Cover?
The bursary will take care of the following expenses:
- Tuition fees,
- Accommodation,
- Prescribed books,
- Stationery and a laptop,
- Monthly stipend
The bursary is fully funded for engineering students and is capped at R50 000 for Science students.
